Inspired by managerial accounting professor's real experience narratives, and by sir mannan's insistence on going out and learning things objectively, me and my junior friend decided to head to Multan to visit a very large scale textile mill, called Mehmood Textile Mill. This idea of visiting actual industries to understand what we're studying was of Shoaib Zafar (late), may allah bless his soul, and i asked him if he'd like to come, but he denied saying he had other plans already conceived...
The marketing does influence things happening in accountant office, on production floor (which lied well outside, 45-min from Multan city) - all jam-packed in cross-functional software called ERP (we'd study in operations). What made me really happy was to know that MTM holds monthly meeting of top mangers from all department, where they discuss everything, be it boasting one's work or debating what happened how, and so on and so forth. I didn't keep a journal, and unfortunately didn't get to see marketing manager, though we met GM Finance Account (CFA guy), cheif accountant, ERP manager, textile engineer. Below i am posting few pictures from the tour and one important lesson for university graduates, who think they're born leaders, managers, etc., etc.
Hindsight for all university students: When i met persons at the whelm of affairs managing state-of-the-art technology, i came to know of an alternative to a professional degree - it's called experience. 'So what's qualification?', you ask a manager. 'i've 10-20-30 years experience in this or that field.' Such people started with BA, and thanks to proactivity of man, excelled multi-dimensionally in various fields. They are not sir wasif's chaos spreading species, but genuine managers, rare though.
