Sensible Growth of Exxon Mobil

After conducting the product portfolio analysis, a company can expand its operations through many different measures. These include market development, diversification, product development and market penetration. However, we also know that growth cannot always ensure success for a company. Sometimes that same growth may lead the company into such markets which may later on damage the company's overall position. Sometimes, a company may be prudent enough to consolidate its position in normal times and then sensibly expand its operations. Thus, sensible growth may benefit a company immensely in the long run. For example, recently Exxon Mobil bought XTO Energy which will increase Exxon’s proved reserves by the equivalent of 2.3 billion barrels of oil, or almost 20%. It will also bring promising exploration rights, with the potential to increase reserves and production even more, and great expertise in exploiting them.Check out such sensible type of growth and do give feedback.
