How To Influence and Motivate People

Be a Leader:
How to Change People Without Giving Offense or Arousing Resentment

1. Begin with praise and honest appreciation.
2. Call attention to other people's mistakes indirectly.
3. Talk about your own mistakes first.
4. Ask questions instead of directly giving orders.
5. Let the other person save face.
6. Praise every improvement.
7. Give them a fine reputation to live up to.
8. Encourage them by making their faults seem easy to correct.
9. Make the other person happy about doing what you suggest.

I can't believe the extent to which this relates on the football field and surely every other situation as well. Although this comment doesn't follow these guidelines itself. :)
so i'll understand if this doesn't influence or motivate others

It happens in a good relationship of marriage as well (ok I am not kidding)

I think in Chinese culture, we lack of point 1-9 because it is way too competitive and people will not admit their faults.

These might be lacking in the Chinese culture, but they are lacking over here as well, As people have the natural tendency not to admit faults and even to blame others for their own faults.

Plus the general impression of an influential person is one who is directing and can make others act according to his will, whereas its not so in real. Such people have influence only when they are present on the scene
