The American Marketing Association's definition of marketing is:
"The process of planning and executing the conception, pricing, promotion and distribution of ideas, goods, and services to create exchanges that satisfy individual and organizational objectives."
You see in the above definition that the process of marketing begins with discovering what product customers want to buy. Providing the features and quality customers want is a critical first step in marketing. You will be facing an uphill battle if you provide something you want to produce and then try to convince someone to buy it.

No offense Aqsa but to some extent i disagree with your point of view. For some consumers pricing might be their first priority. In that case they may not consider features or quality of the product at all.For imported products mostly ,their manufacturers might not have an idea of consumers wants and latter develop an acquired taste for the product. For businesses selling toys, promotion is their main priority. What i mean is that, product no doubt is important in marketing but 4p's are varied in individual businesses according to the consumer's need.
hey Naima good point though :D your totally right when u said the 4p's vary in individual business according to consumer "need"
I just copied a shot definition/ article off the net. People tend to read what's short & too the point.
Thanks for making me look at the other side of the picture :)
