Societal Marketing Concept and Social Marketing

We were discussing social marketing in class that day. Ahmed Hashmi had a post related to it. Basically, societal marketing concept is when marketing concepts and tools are used to promote ideas which discourage people from indulging in habits which may deteriorate the welfare of society. For example, some groups may discourage people from indulging in drugs and alcoholism. Even idea marketing such as eliminating corruption from society is also societal marketing.

For profit businesses may also indulge in societal marketing in order to improve the image of the company. This may benefit the company in the long term in the form of higher customer equity as more customers will be attracted towards those companies which promote a good cause.
There is also a concept of social marketing which is quite different from the societal marketing concept. Basically, social marketing is word-of-mouth marketing, using new, Internet-based social media. Social marketing is best done through the various social media such as blogs, social networking websites, picture and video sharing sites, and targeting social bookmarking sites. Guys, such type of marketing is not only inexpensive but it is also extremely convincing. Consumers are more convinced from word of mouth marketing rather than traditional marketing by different businesses. Guys, check out this website about social marketing and do give feedback.

Example: Like what Safeguard is doing, building hand washing facilities in schools.

How can a handful of blogs and word-to-mouth marketing work for ventures like Mycampus.pk without sophisticated marketing plans?
